READING, PA (01/06/2023)– Each semester, Albright College students travel the globe. This Interim and spring semester, students are studying in locations such as Paris, Prague, Costa Rica and Mexico. Local area students are studying in Ecuador, Prague and Vienna:
Ryan Elmore of Barrington (08007) is studying abroad this Interim session in Ecuador. A graduate of Haddon Heights Junior Senior High School, Elmore is studying journalism at Albright College.
Greyson Curran of Bordentown (08505) is studying abroad this Interim session in Prague and Vienna. A graduate of Bordentown Regional High School, Curran is studying political science and sociology/criminology at Albright College.
Led by Albright faculty, 15 members of Albright College’s inaugural class of Global Scholars are spending the January Interim session in Ecuador. Using Cuenca, Ecuador as a base, students will live with a host family for several weeks while learning from Albright faculty about comparative cultures. The cohort is living together throughout their first year at Albright, while taking a series of courses together in the fall and spring semesters. Aiding in their study abroad exploration of South America, the group has been studying Spanish together. Future Global Scholars study away locations include Costa Rica, Ecuador, France, Ghana, Mexico and Spain.
Another group of Albright students will be led by faculty in Prague and Vienna while earning credit for a business or political science course. Nicknamed the “City of a Hundred Spires,” Prague is the medieval capital city of the Czech Republic. Never destroyed by natural disaster or any of the European wars, Prague boasts neighborhoods dating back to the 9th and 10th centuries. Classes will be held in a building overlooking a square that has held markets since at least the year 1211. Students will also spend five days in Vienna (the capital of Austria) — experiencing cafe culture and history, as well as the city’s palaces, with a day trip to nearby Bratislava, Slovakia.
