MAHWAH, NJ – Kate Herlihy scored a career-high 14 points to lead the Rowan women’s basketball team to a 54-41 win at Ramapo in NJAC action to give the Profs their fifth straight victory. Rowan is now 13-7 and 9-4 in the conference.
Herlihy made 6-of-14 from the field and hit two three-pointers while Dakota Adams was the only other Prof in double figures with 10 points. Reagan Russo shot 6-for-8 from the foul line and Nicole Mallard made 3-of-5 field goal attempts to help the Profs.
Rowan used two big runs in the second and third quarters to earn the win. Trailing 15-10, the Profs outscored the Roadrunners, 21-3, to take a 19-18 lead and would lead, 21-20, at halftime.
In the third, Ramapo briefly regained the lead, 25-23, but Rowan went on a 16-0 run, that included six points from Russo and four from Herlihy, to take a 39-25 advantage. The Profs maintained the edge, and took a 44-30 lead into the third quarter. \
The fourth quarter featured an 8-0 spurt which sealed the win, giving the Profs their biggest lead of the game, 54-37, with 1:38 remaining.
Rowan returns home on Wednesday to host Rutgers-Camden in the second game of the NJAC doubleheader, with a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
