Rowan Held Off Stockton as Grace Marshall Nets 22 Points

GLASSBORO, NJ (January 18, 2023) — Led by Grace Marshall’s game-high 22 points, Rowan held off Stockton, 63-54, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference matchup Wednesday evening at Esbjornson Gymnasium.

The senior was 8-of-16 from the floor in netting a season-high scoring as the Profs erased an 11-point second-quarter hole. Kate Herlihy kicked 10 points off the bench as Rowan turned 17 offensive rebounds into 11 second-chance points.

Rowan led 14-11 after the first quarter but saw the visitors shoot 50% in the second to outscore the Profs 19-12, to take a 30-26 edge into the locker room. The Ospreys put together a 13-2 run in that second stanza for its largest contest lead (27-16) with just under three minutes in half. Marshall hit a pair of threes in the final stretch to pull the home squad within four points.

Herlihy’s three tied it 38-38 in the third, and later a big three-point play from Nicole Mallard put Rowan ahead, 42-40, heading into the final stanza.

The lead stretched to seven after Mallard’s driving layup made it 49-42 with six minutes to go. After Stockton cut to 57-53, Ny’emah Middleton sliced through traffic in the paint to put Rowan up 59-53 with 32 ticks. The Profs were able to hit free throws from Danielle McCurdy and Mallard in the final seconds to help ice the outcome.

Emma Morrone led the Ospreys with 15 points. Adriyana Jennings added 11 points and 10 rebounds and Nicole Strumolo netted 13 off the bench.

Mallard added nine points and a team-high seven rebounds.

The Profs are back at it on Saturday with a road contest at William Paterson beginning at 1 p.m.
